Greek Isles Weather:

It is said that the sailing conditions in the Greek islands are the most predictable in the world. The winds, known as the Meltemi, begin calmly in May at 7 to 10 knots and rise to as high as 30 to 35 knots in July. By September, the strong breezes have again subsided.

The Meltemi winds tend to be northeasterly in the northern Aegean and shift to northerly in the central Aegean and northwesterly in the south. In the Ionian area, the winds tend to be northwesterly during the prime summer months. Throughout the Mediterranean, winds tend to be calm in the morning and grow stronger as the day progresses.

The Mediterranean is blessed with over 300 days of sunny, near cloudless weather. The preferred charter season is between April and September and warm weather prevails. During the spring and fall, you can expect to encounter occasional thunderstorms. The heaviest months of rainfall occur during the winter months.
